JIT Scheduler 1

Description. JIT Terminal. Creating and editing tasks. FAQ. Author

General Description

JIT is the task scheduler for Windows 9x/NT. It was created by
Igor V. Polyakoff. Scheduler provides an easy way to create and launch tasks in specified day and time. JIT supports 3 types of tasks: Application, Document or just Message. This means that you can open document (i.e picture, text or Web - page link etc.) as well as launch an application (.exe). This software consists of 2 programs: Terminal and Scheduler. Terminal (JIT.exe) is the Scheduler configuring tool, it presents the list of user's tasks. You can create and edit it. Scheduler (sched.exe) is the small program, which performs task launching. It usually starts on System's startup. The Schedule Executor (sched.exe) is rather small : 60Kb.

JIT Terminal

JIT Terminal is the tool which helps user to manage task list. It displays the list of user's tasks and performs operations with it :
create, edit and delete. The List Window is divided into 5 columns. "Task" column displays task names. "+" column displays the activity flag, plus character designates that this task is active. Other columns display other information about tasks. "Time" column shows the launching time, if it containes plus character it means that "Run after" option is enabled. "Command" column shows task command and can contain "DOC>" and "MSG>" words, which shows that this task opens Document or displays Message. If these words are absent the task runs an Application. See Creating and editing tasks for details about task properties.
"Scheduler options" command invokes dialog box with Scheduler properties. "Run JIT on system startup" option should be enabled for correct work. "Active" property in this dialog box allows to activate or disable Schedule Executor. JIT doesn't execute tasks, if it is disabled. If "Warn..." option is switched off, JIT doesn't show confirmation dialogs.
You can also specify the Schedule file to be used. JIT can be used in multy user network systems w/o problems. The Program saves information only in "Local User" branch of System Registry and each user can select his own Schedule file.

Creating & Editing tasks

JIT Terminal is the tool which helps user to manage task list.
User can select "New task" or "Edit task" command to create new task or edit existing one. You will see some dialog windows with task properties. "Name" property is just the title of this task and it is displayed in Terminal's window. "Command" property depends on type of a task and can contain an application name to be executed, document name to be opened or text message. It is recommended to specify full path to file. JIT Scheduler supports Drag&Drop, so you can drag needed file into Terminal's window. "Type" property designates type of a task: Applicaton, Document or Message. You can also set or remove activity flag by changing "Active" property. Scheduler executes only active tasks. "Day & Time". Scheduler runs tasks in specified days of week (Sunday, Tuesday etc.) and days of month (numbers 1-31). You also need to set the launching time. "Run after" feature allows to launch task after the specified time, if it was impossible to run it in time (i.e. computer had been turned off or Scheduler was not active etc.). JIT Scheduler will execute it as soon as possible until the midnight.
Terminal also allows to Delete selected tasks or Run it immediately.
